One of Dickerson Park Zoo's latest residents is a four-year-old female Malayan tiger. Bersi hails from Palm Beach Zoo in Florida.
She made the move as Bunga, a male tiger at Dickerson Park Zoo, was transferred to the ABQ BioPark in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In 2016, Bunga injured fellow tiger Petra during an introduction, leading to the amputation of one of her legs. However, this incident was not the reason for his home change, said Joey Powell, zoo spokeswoman. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan recommended it.

In some estimations, there are fewer than 300 remaining Malayan tigers in the wild.
