Mason Auer keeps betting on himself and he's turned himself into a coveted baseball prospect.
Auer, a former Kickapoo High standout, was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 161st overall pick in the fifth round of Monday afternoon's MLB Draft.
According to MLB.com, the approximate signing bonus for the No. 161 overall pick is $321,100.
The selection is the second time Auer has been drafted in his baseball career. He was picked in the 39th round with the 1,182nd overall pick of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs.

Instead of going pro, Auer bet on himself in pursuit of being a higher draft pick which would carry a larger signing bonus.
