Mason Auer was at the pool when he received a call from the Chicago Cubs telling him they were going to draft him in 2019.
There wasn't much celebration. The Kickapoo grad followed by texting his parents and jumping back in the pool. He didn't expect to get drafted, but it was an unforgettable moment for a player coming out of high school.
"It was cool to hear my name called out there," Auer said. "I was just having a good time at the pool."
Auer, who was selected 1,182nd overall, turned down the Cubs and decided to start his college career at Missouri State.
