ST. LOUIS — Southern Illinois head coach Barry Hinson announced Friday night he is no longer the Salukis' head coach.
"It is time for me to step away," Hinson said as he fought off tears during an emotional press conference following Southern Illinois' loss to Northern Iowa in the MVC Quarterfinals.
During a press conference following the game, Hinson allowed his players to leave before he addressed the media by himself.
"I've been blessed to be a part of this conference for 16 years," Hinson began. "There's no one who loves the Valley more than I do.
