AURORA — Before Friday night, it had been 21 years since the Aurora Houn Dawgs had won a conference title.
With a 30-19 win over Marshfield on Friday night, the clock has been reset as Aurora (7-1) clinched at least a share of the Big 8 East crown.
“It was 2000 — my son was a senior in high school,” head coach Craig Weldy said. “This is a big deal. Football is back in Aurora. These kids have brought it back.”
After going 1-9 in 2019 and 6-4 in a 2020 season, where the Houn Dawgs were stunned by Seneca in the first round of districts, the hardware means a lot to the players.
