Evangel football coach watches defense have fun in spring game

Rance Burger/News-Leader

As Chuck Hepola moves toward his second fall as the football coach at Evangel, he repeated a phrase to describe the offseason.

“It’s been a lot of fun.”

The fun took over Thursday night at the Crusaders’ annual spring game at Coryell Field, when an intrasquad scrimmage turned into a block party. Students—male and female—were invited onto the practice field to try throwing passes, running routes, kicking field goals and fielding punts. Players and students enjoyed dessert after the scrimmage.

Hepola hopes a bit of fun will help the Evangel football team take pride in its performance.
