For the first time in nearly six months, the "Voice of the Bears" appeared on the radio.
Art Hains, who has been hospitalized since September with West Nile, spoke in a pre-recorded interview during halftime of the Bears' opening-round game at Arch Madness in St. Louis.
Hains, interviewed by Bears color analyst Mike Keltner and fill-in play-by-play voice Don West, talked about his recovery, the support he's received and his beloved Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
"I hate not being there," Hains said via phone from The Ambassador in Lincoln, Nebraska. "I haven't been off the ventilator for about a month so we're done with that and we're trying to get rid of a few other things that can get us back to Springfield.
