In a disappointing and sometimes bizarre Missouri State basketball season, the Bears’ 67-63 loss to Drake on Sunday at JQH Arena might have been the topper.
Mounting a furious rally following the ejection of several bench players for leaving the sideline — and standing on the brink of a memorable comeback victory — the Bears’ hearts were ripped out by Reed Timmer’s jump shot and their own missed free throws.
“We should have won the game,” Bears coach Paul Lusk said. “You want those guys shooting free throws. I’ve just got to believe that they’re going to make them and they’re going to make the plays we need.
