Two former MSU field hockey players talk about the elimination of their sport due to budget cuts. Andrew Jansen/News-Leader
Recently obtained documents shine light on Missouri State's decision to cut its field hockey program two years ago and which sports most narrowly survived the cut.
The News-Leader obtained the Athletics Budget Work Group Recommendations that were submitted to MSU President Clif Smart on March 30, 2017. The document included how each individual sport was tiered compared to the other sports.
Also included was a scenario that suggested how MSU could keep field hockey, though the group didn't recommend that path.
