Barometer games tell championship-caliber teams whether they have the necessary tools — and can make the needed adjustments — to stop other great teams.
Such was the case Saturday when Drury University put its 14-0 record and No. 3 national ranking on the line against a Lewis women’s team that had won 13 consecutive games.
“We’ve had this game on our calendars a long time,” admitted Drury’s star Hailey Diestelkamp. “We didn’t want to lose this game.”
The Lady Panthers didn’t lose, but they did weather several storms, thanks in large part to another monster game by the junior: 28 points, 15 rebounds and five steals.
