The Springfield Lasers hope to repeat as World TeamTennis champions in 2019, and that attempt begins with bringing back the league's top performer from last season — though others will have to step up after the first week of the season.
The league's draft was conducted Tuesday, and each team gets to keep one "franchise player" from the previous season. Springfield selected Miomir "Misha" Kecmanovic, the 19-year-old who won the Championship MVP award last season.
Franchise players, who tend to be more high-profile professionals, are only allowed to play five matches per season.
