Holding on to first place in the National League Central, the St. Louis Cardinals would love to add one of their biggest names back to the rotation. That hopeful arm is scheduled to make a rehab appearance in Springfield this week.
Right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty will make a rehab start in Springfield on Tuesday as the Cardinals host the Arkansas Travelers at 6:35 p.m. at Hammons Field.
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told reporters on Sunday that Flaherty will likely throw 40-to-45 pitches, according to The Athletic's Katie Woo. Flaherty was placed on the 60-day IL in July while dealing with a shoulder injury.
