For many years June 30, has been on froggers’ calendar.
That is the date when the bullfrog and green frog season opens at sunset. Anyone who has ever enjoyed frog legs for a meal is likely to be ready for another mess of these tasty amphibians. Each year on June 30 at sunset, thousands of Missourians head out to streams, ponds and lakes to try to bag a mess of frog legs for a late snack. Frog’s flesh really does taste a lot like chicken, which explains why they are sometimes called "chicken of the ponds."
