A concrete crossing on Bull Creek where three paddlers have drowned during high water will be torn out and an elevated structure built in its place, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Corps spokesman Jay Townsend said the landowner, Steve Johnson, submitted his plan to make the crossing comply with Corps requirements. Johnson submitted his plan a day earlier than the Corps required.
Townsend said Johnson plans to have the original contractor tear out the concrete crossing, the fill material and the culvert tubes and build an new elevated slab bridge across Bull Creek.
New design to be submitted for replacement bridge on Bull Creek
Johnson will use the same Nationwide Permit he previously received from the Corps, but will submit a new design for the elevated slab bridge for the Corps to review.
