A visitor at Buffalo National River Park died Saturday, July 27, after he fell off the tailgate of a pickup truck.
Park officials say Troy Roderick, 54, of Cushing, Oklahoma, had been swimming in the Buffalo River at the north end of Ozark Campground. Shortly after 5 p.m., Cushing was riding back to his campsite on the tailgate of a pickup when he fell off and lost consciousness.
According to park officials, visitors started efforts to resuscitate him. He was transferred to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center by the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center Ambulance service, where he died.
