Bluebirds could get a leg up with homemade nesting boxes, MDC says

Making a nesting box for Missouri's state bird might mean you see bluebirds in your yard more often.

Missouri Department of Conservation will host a virtual and in-person program, "Woodworking for Wildlife" Dec. 16 to show folks how to build a bluebird nesting box.

This online and in-person event will be 6-7:30 p.m. and is hosted by staff at MDC’s Andy Dalton Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center. This program is for all ages and you can sign up at: https://mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/178719

"In the wild, bluebirds compete with starlings, house sparrows and other creatures for cavity nesting space," according to MDC.
