Kickapoo was supposed to be in a rebuilding year after losing four starters from a state championship team.
Instead, the Chiefs continue to be elite and they're now the Blue Division champions.
Second-seeded Kickapoo topped fourth-seeded Catholic with a 62-49 win in the Blue Division title game on Thursday night at the 2021 Blue and Gold Tournament. It's Kickapoo's first title since 2015.
Junior point guard Trae Oetting scored 21 points for the Chiefs.
Kickapoo led the entire second half but it wasn't that easy. Catholic made a late run and pulled the game within three with 2:37 left to play.
