Bears seek redemption, key conference win at Southern Illinois

Missouri State head coach Paul Lusk did not mince words after the Bears were upended by Southern Illinois at JQH Arena on Jan. 7.

“They came to fight and we came to play,” he told the News-Leader after the Salukis’ 75-67 victory without top scorer Armon Fletcher, who was sidelined with a foot injury. “Give them all the credit in the world. Disappointed with our guys, that we didn’t have that sense of urgency.”

“They were absolutely tougher than us,” Lusk continued. “It wasn’t even close. Everybody in the gym saw it. I’ll handle that. We have been pretty tough, and I haven’t seen that.
