Missouri State and Southern Illinois fans got an exciting, down-to-the-wire overtime game on Valentine’s Day in Carbondale, Illinois, and Missouri State faltered by only one point.
MSU (17-11, 7-8) and SIU (18-10, 10-5) have a history of playing close games, and MSU already lost to SIU in Springfield this season. Once again, the Salukis just barely held off the Bears, 81-80.
The Bears and the Salukis started off neck-and-neck, but after a layup by MSU’s Obediah Church, SIU followed with a layup and a free throw, giving the Salukis the lead, 3-2.
SIU’s Kavion Pippen fouled Alize Johnson on a layup, helping Johnson complete a three-point play.
