Strictly speaking, Missouri State’s baseball team can only play one center fielder at a time.
It may seem different when the Bears send out Hunter Steinmetz, Alex Jefferson and Jack Duffy to patrol the outfield.
All three played key roles in the Bears’ come-from-behind 9-5 victory over Memphis at Hammons Field on Friday afternoon, and they earned praise from coach Keith Guttin in the process.
“We feel like we’ve got three center fielders out there in the outfield, with (Duffy), Steinmetz and Jefferson,” Guttin said. “They all run well and play well out there. It’s hard to get a ball in between them.
