OZARK — Up 12-3 in the fifth, what appeared to be the entire town of Ash Grove stood on its feet. The Pirate-faithful knew they were moments away from witnessing history.
The Pirates in the dugout knew all took was a hit to the outfield and they would be state champions. They stood against the fence waiting to climb over it and celebrate a perfect season while bringing home Ash Grove's first baseball state title.
With the bases loaded and no one out, Nate Trammell lifted a ball into right field, deep enough to bring Bryce Davis home from third.
