Hammons Field will host the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, and the Bears will have an uphill climb if they want to extend their season beyond this week.
Missouri State (25-26) opens its tournament against Illinois State on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in a single-elimination game to advance to the double-elimination bracket.
The MSU program has never had three consecutive losing seasons, but that will happen if the Bears don't go on a run this week. The Bears are hoping to channel 2016, when they went from the play-in round to the championship game of the MVC Tournament before falling in extra innings.
