Young inks free agent deal with Royals

Mississippi State pitcher Paul Young has signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Royals.

The redshirt junior right-hander went undrafted last month and had pitched in four games for the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod League this summer.

Of the 17 draft eligible players for the Bulldogs, 12 were either drafted or have signed a professional contract.

Young spent three seasons in Starkville after transferring in from Central Alabama Community College. He made 12 relief appearances in his career with an 8.59 ERA, 12 strikeouts and 13 walks over 7 1/3 innings.
