Young bats shine in sixth scrimmage

Youth shined for Mississippi State as freshmen Luke Alexander and Cole Gordon each launched their first home runs of the fall in Maroon’s 6-2 victory against Gray at Dudy Noble Field Friday. The exhibition lasted six innings.

Junior college transfer Jacob Barfield kicked off the scoring for the Maroon and White’s sixth scrimmage of the fall with a sacrifice fly to left field, bringing Junior first baseman Nathaniel Lowe home from third in the top of the second inning to give Maroon a 1-0 lead.

After Delvin Zinn reached first base on an error in the top of the third, senior catcher Josh Lovelady laced a triple down the right field line to push another run across.
