Mississippi State junior pitcher Paul Young was arrested Tuesday afternoon on simple assault charges.
Young was taken into custody by campus police at 2:35 p.m. but also practiced with the Diamond Dogs afterwards on Tuesday, according to the Clarion Ledger.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder redshirted his initial year at MSU in 2014 while recovering from surgery on his right pitching elbow. Young made two relief appearances last year allowing a run on four walks and two strikeouts in an inning of work.
A native of Milton, Fla., Young spent one season at Central Alabama Community College and was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 21st round of the 2013 MLB Draft.
