A fifth member of Mississippi State’s 2013 College World Series finalist team is headed to the Major Leagues.
The New York Yankees called up pitcher Jonathan Holder from Triple-A Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre on Friday marking the 56th Bulldog to reach the big leagues.
Holder was 2-0 with six saves, 35 strikeouts and no walks in 20 1/3 innings with a 0.89 earned run average in a dozen outings for the RailRiders.
It is the fourth promotion for the Gulfport right-hander after beginning the season in Advanced A. He is 5-1 overall on the year with a 1.
