Nearly a month after La Tech coach Michael White accepted the head coaching position at Florida, La Tech Fr. G Xavian Stapleton announced his intentions to transfer to Mississippi State on Sunday. Originally from Madison, MS, the 6′ 6″ Stapleton averaged 6.7 points per game during his freshman year in Ruston.
Stapleton’s decision comes after a week filled with visits to Iowa State, Alabama, and Mississippi State.
Stapleton will have to sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer rules but will then have 3 years of eligibility remaining.
The addition of Stapleton bolsters the future of the Bulldogs’ roster which contains five seniors in addition to one-and-done talent Malik Newman.
