Following Leo Lewis’ arrest, Mississippi State must turn to a new face as it pertains to leadership on defense. Lewis has been the team’s heart and soul on the defensive side of the ball, but that role is sure to change, as his immaturity is now in the spotlight. Though the Bulldogs have a multitude of options, Erroll Thompson seems to be the most ideal replacement.
Comparable to Lewis, Thompson’s skillset consists of many elements that today’s linebackers simply do not have. That said, there are also many differences. While Lewis is an aggressive risk taker, Thompson is a mind reading savant and can sniff out any play.
