Jordan Westburg has hit harder balls this year. The Mississippi State shortstop has hit balls much farther, too. However, he might not have hit one that was quite as satisfying as the one he grounded through the left side of the infield on Friday.
Westburg, who has been battling through a major hitting slump the last couple of months, delivered a clutch two-run single that broke a 6-6 tie in the seventh inning and was one of the key blows as host MSU took an eventual 11-6 victory over upset-minded Southern in the opening game of the Starkville Regional at Dudy Noble Field.
