Player of the Week: Mississippi State's Teaira McCowan started her senior season with back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 18.0 ppg and 14.5 rpg. McCowan also blocked 11 shots, a total that is the most in the nation, and shot 57.1% from the field and 70.6% at the line. She now has recorded eight-straight double-doubles going back to last season and 41 for her career, fourth-most among active NCAA Division I players and first among SEC players. She started the campaign with her ninth-career game with 20-plus points and 15-plus rebounds, tallying 24 points, 17 boards and a career-high 7 blocked shots against Southeast Missouri.
