STARKVILLE, Miss. — The QB1 battle in Stakville has come to an end, as head football coach Joe Moorhead announced Thursday afternoon that Tommy Stevens has been named the Bulldogs’ starting quarterback for the 2019 season.
Stevens, a graduate transfer from Penn State, will be entering his first season as a starting quarterback. The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder spent the past four seasons as Penn State’s backup. Stevens backed up Trace McSorley, but was also used as a receiver and runner. Over the last three seasons, Stevens rushed for 506 yards and eight touchdowns on 76 carries while catching 14 passes for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
