Tigers take Robson in eighth round

Center fielder Jacob Robson became the third Mississippi State player selected in the MLB Draft on Friday and fourth overall after he was picked up in the eighth round (235th overall) by the Detroit Tigers.

It was the second time the redshirt junior has been drafted after going in the 30th round to the San Diego Padres during the 2012 MLB Draft out of high school.

Robson has played in 168 games during his four years in Starkville including 127 starts. The 5-foot-8, 175-pound Canadian has started 48 of the 49 games he has appeared in this season batting .
