The past nine seasons at Mississippi State have the same pattern – the same chatter, the same noise, comparable results – almost as if you are watching “Groundhog Day” with Bill Murray.
Over and again, we’ve seen this script in Starkville: low media expectations, the team outperforming those expectations, Dan Mullen headed for greener pastures.
Two of those things happen almost annually, but the one thing that hasn’t happened is Dan Mullen leaving. The rumors are out there of him wanting the Miami job but not getting it because of his personality, of being the supposed top guy for other jobs but — for various reasons — remaining in Starkville.
