OMAHA, Neb. – Chris Lemonis brought with him a reputation as a top recruiter when he was hired as Mississippi State’s head coach last June. Lemonis had a background that demonstrated he knew all about how to bring in top talent.
It’s a good thing. That’s because not long after MSU director of athletics John Cohen handed the keys to the Bulldogs off to Lemonis, the new State skipper had work to do. He had a prospect he needed to reel in. Oddly enough, that person – MSU hitting coach Jake Gautreau – was already wearing maroon and white.
