Mississippi State guards Craig Sword and Malik Newman were selected to the Preseason All-SEC second team by the league’s coaches on Thursday.
Sword, a 6-foot-3 senior from Montgomery, Ala., has led the Bulldogs in scoring in each of the past three seasons. Sword was named a second team All-SEC after averaging 11.3 points last season and has been an All-SEC member three times.
“It’s always nice to be recognized,” Sword said. “The credit
goes to my teammates and coaches. They put me in position to have success.”
Despite not stepping on the court yet, Newman also earned a spot on the second team.
