The SEC led all conferences with 53 players selected in the NFL draft – the 11th year in a row that has happened – but that doesn’t mean all the SEC standouts from last season heard their name called over the weekend.
There were a handful of notable SEC players who are going to have to try to make their mark as an undrafted free agent, among them Florida defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. (negatives: size makes him a ‘tweener, only a so-so pass rusher), LSU wide receiver Travin Dural (average ball skills, not as fast as expected, lack of production), Texas A&M offensive lineman Avery Gennesy (question as to his best position, lacks power as run blocker), Auburn guard Alex Kozan (limited athleticism), Mississippi State wide receiver Fred Ross (lack of top-end speed, iffy hands), Ole Miss wide receiver Damore’ea Stringfellow (off-field issues, lack of top-end speed) and Kentucky center Jon Toth (rumored injury issues).
