Mississippi State’s Fred Ross was named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list on Wednesday.
The junior wide receiver from Tyler, Texas is one of 39 players selected to the watch list for the offensive player of the year from the Lone Star state.
The list will be narrowed to 16 semifinalists in November and five finalists the following month. The award will be presented in January.
Ross has appeared in 24 career games with one start. The 6-foot-2, 207-pounder has caught 39 career passes for 604 yards and five touchdowns. He appeared in all 13 games last season hauling in 30 balls for 489 yards and five scores while also carrying seven times for 75 yards.
