Rooker selected summer league MVP

The honors continue to pour in for Mississippi State’s Brent Rooker.

A week after being named the Most Improved Player in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, the sophomore outfielder was selected as its Most Valuable Player as well.

Rooker hit .360 and led the league with 59 hits, 10 home runs, 33 RBIs, 36 runs, 99 total bases, 164 at bats and a .604 slugging percentage.

“His two summers in Plymouth were very impressive and showed how much he developed,” said Plymouth head coach Greg Zackrison. “He came to Plymouth this summer and accomplished his goal to prove he is a top prospect.
