Rockies comes to terms with Humphreys

Mississippi State left fielder/ closer Reid Humphreys came to terms with the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday and signed a $227,400 contract.

The Rockies selected Humphreys in the seventh round with the 200th overall pick. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder from Brandon signed for the slot value of the pick.

It was the second time Humphreys had been drafted having previously been taken in the 36th round by the Washington Nationals in 2013.

As a junior, Humphreys started 55 games and hit .310 with five home runs and 44 RBIs but was drafted by Colorado as a pitcher.
