Deshea Townsend is headed back to the NFL.
The two-time Super Bowl champion leaves Mississippi State after three seasons as cornerbacks coach to take the same position with the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN’s Paul Kuharsky.
Townsend does have prior coaching experience in the NFL having served as assistant defensive backs coach with the Arizona Cardinals from 2011-12 prior to joining Dan Mullen‘s staff in Starkville.
Townsend was on the road recruiting for MSU as late as Thursday afternoon.
Townsend is the third defensive coach to depart from the Bulldogs joining defensive coordinator Manny Diaz and safeties coach Tony Hughes.
