Mississippi State will visit Massachusetts for the 2016 football season according to a report by the Daily Hampshire Gazette, which cited sources within the Minutemen athletic department.
The game is scheduled for Sept. 24, 2016 in Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. The announcement is expected to be made official on Monday afternoon.
In return for the Bulldogs visit, UMass will visit Starkville on Sept. 23, 2017 and Oct. 17, 2020.
The 2016 meeting will replace MSU’s previously scheduled contest which was canceled by Tulane.
Director of athletics Scott Stricklin stated last month that he had hoped to keep the Bulldogs home schedule at seven games but this announcement would leave State with only six.
