Rea named a finalist for Ferriss Trophy

Wes Rea has been a mainstay in Mississippi State’s lineup the last four years following a redshirt season.

Rea’s longevity has paid off with a solid senior year batting .309 with a team-leading five home runs and 35 runs batted in.

The first baseman from Gulfport is one of five finalists for the C Spire Ferriss Trophy awarded annually to the top college baseball player in Mississippi. Other finalists include Southern Miss senior pitcher James McMahon (a former MSU signee), Jackson State senior infielder Melvin Rodriguez, Millsaps senior pitcher/ infielder Keith Shumaker and Ole Miss senior pitcher Scott Weathersby.
