Preston Smith came to Mississippi State as an unheralded three-star recruit, looking to prove he belonged at the next level. Following his junior season, Smith was projected to be a borderline draft prospect.
Things changed quickly for Smith following the birth of his daughter Lauren. Later that day, Smith was named the Defensive MVP of the Liberty Bowl and his stock has since skyrocketed.
Smith spoke to the Clarion Ledger regarding the impact Lauren's birth had on him, "It drove me more to provide for my daughter and give her everything she wants and needs," Smith said.
