Eight Mississippi State pitchers combined to strike out 18 batters as Gray edged out a narrow 2-0 victory against Maroon Wednesday night at Dudy Noble Field. The six-inning exhibition marked MSU’s fourth scrimmage of the preseason.
Starting pitchers Keegan James and Zac Houston were both dominant to begin the game. James struck out four in three innings of two-hit ball, while Houston used a 97 mph fastball to strike out four in just two innings. Freshman Ryan Cyr replaced James on the bump for Gray and tossed two shutout innings to record the win.
