Palmeiro goes 2-for-4 with an RBI in pro return

Former Mississippi State slugger Rafael Palmeiro went 2-for-4 with an RBI, walk and a run scored in his return to professional baseball Friday night.

The 50-year old Palmeiro signed to play along his son Patrick for the Sugar Land Skeeters, an independent team in the Atlantic League.

The Palmeiro’s played a pivotal role in the Skeeters’ 10-4 win over the Camden Riversharks on Friday as Patrick went 2-for-5 with a double, home run and four RBIs.

The elder Palmeiro served as a designated hitter before being lifted for a pinch runner in the seventh inning after reaching on an error.
