FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The No. 3 Mississippi State baseball team (32-7, 10-6 SEC) took a 1-0 lead over the Razorbacks in the fifth inning, but it was No. 10 Arkansas (28-10, 10-6 SEC) who took the opening game of the three-game Southeastern Conference series by a score of 5-3 Thursday night at Baum-Walker Stadium.
Starting pitcher Ethan Small (4-1) had a no-hitter through four innings of the game. Overall he allowed three runs on five hits and struck out nine batters in six innings of work.
Sophomore Rowdey Jordan’s leadoff home run to right in the fifth inning gave the Dawgs a 1-0 lead.
