No. 18 Mississippi State Falls to Iowa 27-22 in Outback Bowl

TAMPA, Fla. — The No. 18 Mississippi State football team ended the 2018 season Saturday afternoon with a 27-22 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 33rd edition of the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Fla.

MSU finishes its season with an 8-5 record, while Iowa ends the season at 9-4.

The Outback Bowl saw two of the nation’s best defenses face off. The Bulldogs complied 342 yards of total offense, 190 on the ground and 152 through the air.

Senior quarterback Nick Fitzgerald had a team-high 103 rushing yards on 20 attempts, including the only Bulldog rushing touchdown on the day.
