When Joe Moorhead was given the reins of the Mississippi State football team after Dan Mullen left for Florida, a lot of attention was being placed on Nick Fitzgerald. One of the key tenets to the Joe Moorhead offense was big, explosive plays in the passing game. This made people assume Fitzgerald was going to be required to throw the football down the field more often.
This was a concern for many Mississippi State fans. Despite all of the wonderful things Nick Fitzgerald has done as a quarterback for the Bulldogs, throwing the football down field accurately on a consistent basis has not been one of those things.
