Newman will withdraw from NBA Draft

Malik Newman plans to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft on Wednesday but that does not necessarily mean good news for Mississippi State.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reported Tuesday night that Newman would not be entering the 2016 NBA Draft but could seek other opportunities including transferring from MSU.

The 6-foot-3 guard from Jackson played in 29 games as a true freshman for the Bulldogs and made 22 starts. Newman was fourth on the team averaging 11.3 points but was hampered by turf toe, back and knee injuries. His best came came against Ole Miss where he scored a career-high 25 points hitting 7-of-10 from the perimeter.
