Malik Newman now has a new home.
After withdrawing from the NBA Draft and announcing he would transfer from Mississippi State in May, the former McDonald’s All-American has decided to attend Kansas.
Due to NCAA transfer rules, Newman must sit out the 2016-17 season and will be eligible to play for the Jayhawks the following year.
During his lone season in Starkville, Newman played in 29 games and made 22 starts. The 6-foot-3 guard from Jackson was fourth on the team averaging 11.3 points during an injury plagued freshman year.
Kansas initially recruited Newman out of high school and beat out Western Kentucky, coached by former MSU coach Rick Stansbury, for his services the second time around.
